BBC viewers were left fuming this evening after an episode of MasterChef: The Professionals was split in two by EastEnders.

Fans of the hit cooking show were outraged when the episode was split in half by an episode of the soap which was shown halfway through.

MasterChef: The Professionals episodes are usually an hour long, and while the show started at 7:30pm on BBC One, it was paused at 8pm to allow an episode of EastEnders to be broadcast until 8:30pm.

Taking to Twitter Masterchef fans expressed their anger at the show being interrupted.

One MasterChef viewer was clearly flummoxed at the scheduling decision and wrote: “Wait, what?!?! They’re showing an episode of Eastenders in the middle of an episode of #Masterchef? That’s just stoopid.”

Another fan of the cooking show vented her frustration and offered a practical solution to the broadcasting clash: “Why do this? Why not just put EastEnders on a 7.30 then have MasterChef in one run? Does my head in!”

One MasterChef fan appealed directly to the BBC, and said: “Please stop showing Masterchef around Eastenders – not everyone watches Eastenders you know.” alongside a face-palm emoji.

According to the Radio Times , the reason for the MasterChef: The Professionals and EastEnders sandwich is due to scheduling changes, as the BBC attempts to accommodate longer episodes of other shows earlier in the day.
