Speaking to Ralph Little, 41, on their Two Pints podcast, referring to the show on which they both starred Will, 45, told how he had taken the matter into his own hands.

The soap star explained: “It was only a year and a half ago. A lovely lady who lives opposite across the road said, ‘I just want to let you know there’s been a strange person going into your mail box’.

“So I checked my CCTV and there’s this lad, he put his hand in my letterbox and took something out.

“He’s following the postman. They’ve robbed my identity and they’ve opened bank accounts in my name.”

Yet bringing the culprits to task wasn’t so easy.

Will, who chased the individuals down the road in his car, added: “Do you know what I had to go through to prove who I was?

“They could open the account online, but for me to prove who I was and go in and close the account I had to jump through hoops.”

The former Hollyoaks star and the authorities managed to get the fake bank accounts closed and, thankfully, his money was all recovered.

It has been a tough time for the northern performer who was left bedridden and in crippling pain after a severe reaction to his coronavirus jab.

He also told how recent family tragedies had left him under a “cloud” of dizzy spells and blurred vision.

The actor, who joined the ITV soap this year, has been grieving for his dad Bill, who died last April within two weeks of being told he had a brain tumour.

He then lost his Uncle Barry before Christmas and his Uncle George and Aunt Pat within days of each other – who died from the same cancer that killed his dad.
