The egg chair is back and it already appears to be in high demand for Christmas.
People went wild for the hanging chair, with an oval-shaped basket seat suspended off the ground, earlier this year when first of all Aldi listed it as one of its Specialbuy items.
Home Bargains quickly followed with its own version that was even cheaper and it has now returned in the run up to Christmas.
Home Bargains has advertised its egg chair on Instagram in a full on Christmas setting, complete with pine decorations, set against a festive themed cosy backdrop.
The post is captioned: “Need a spare chair for that extra guest on Christmas Day? Sorted. Wonder what the head of the table would make of this egg-xtravagant one?”
The post has attracted more than 2,000 comments from excited shoppers keen to add the item which is in stores for £129.99 to their Christmas lists but many have complained about the item being sold out.
At least four followers had the same complaint in the comments – “They’re never in stock.”
While another commented: “Anyone seen any in any London stores?”
A third desperate shopper added: “Please make it available on the site!!”
Others seem to take some festive inspiration from the Christmas decor.
One commented on the wintery setting, commenting: “Next year we’ll decorate the swing chair.”
Another noted the versatile use of the chair as both indoor and outdoor furniture, by saying: “Get one of these for your downstairs room, then you can pop it outdoors after winter.”
One shopper was distracted by the festive decorations in the photo and asked: “Where’s this Christmas tree [table decoration] from?”
The trend is one that looks set to continue, with Aldi who sparked the craze for the stylish and affordable hanging garden chair proving a sell out every year with some saying it was easier to get a ticket to Glastonbury.
Other retailers have jumped on the bandwagon with their versions which are equally flying off the shelves all year round.
