I’M A Celebrity star Richard Madeley has revealed how he and wife Judy Finnigan had a very creepy ‘three-in-a-bed’ encounter in Paris a few years back… with a ghost.

The Good Morning Britain presenter said: “It was really, really spooky.”

Richard revealed: “I could see what I thought was Judy sitting with her back to me on her side of the bed as if she was about to go to the loo or something – but she didn’t move.

“The moment I made a noise, this thing stood up with ridiculous speed and shot across the room.

“I thought, “Oh, holy s***’’. I was really shaken up. Next morning, Judy says to me: ‘Oh my God, I had the most bizarre nightmare. I dreamt that a ghost walked over my grave’.”

Madeley, 65, will be among the 10 stars entering the haunted Gwrych Castle this weekend for the ITV show.

The pair first met on the children’s television show, Byker Grove in 1990.

They played PJ (Ant) and Duncan (Dec) – Dec was on the show from 1989 and Ant joined in 1990.

Their friendship began when they shared storylines on the show, creating a bond off-screen as well as on.

  • Who are Ant and Dec?

Ant is Anthony McPartlinand Dec is Declan Donnelly.

They both originate from Newcastle upon Tyne and are both 43-years-old.

They were each awarded an OBE in June 2016, in recognition of their services to broadcasting and entertainment.

Early in their careers, they decided to always stand in the same order – they call it the 180-degree rule, so that the public could work out who was who.

Ant is always on the left and Dec stands on the right.

  • Luxury hotel for those voted off

Once voted off the show it is a regular occurrence to see the stars whisked off to a luxurious hotel where they can relax.

The hotel that they will be heading to this year is the Carden Park Hotel, a luxury country hotel near Chester, Cheshire.

Just over an hours drive away from the castle, campmates will find themselves encapsulated within a 1,000 acre retreat, home to a spa, golf course and even a vineyard.

The luxury hotel offers a £12million spa facility, which features a lavish outdoor champagne bar.

  • Glam vintage cars on set

I’m A Celeb stars have already been split up ahead of their arrival at the castle, with four of them making a dramatic entrance on Thursday afternoon.

Viewers will only need to wait until this Sunday when the contestants will enter for what is set to be the toughest series yet.

Ex-Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, 78, Paralympian Kadeena Cox, 30, football winger David Ginola, 54, and Olympic diver Matty Lee, 23, flew to the castle by helicopter.

Shortly after meeting each other for the first time, they were driven to the rest of the way to the isolated location in Abergele, Conwy, in the vintage Jaguars.

  • Matty Lee to ‘thrive under pressure’

Diving fans were delighted to hear that bosses have signed up Tom Daley’s Olympic diving partner Matty Lee.

The 23-year-old is said to be “excited” about the challenges and will “thrive under pressure”.

Speaking about joining the show, Matty said: “My two childhood dreams were to win an Olympic medal and take part in my favourite TV series. And now I am doing both this year!”

“I am really looking forward to the Trials and also, to be around different people will be fun too. I am used to just being around athletes.

“I think I will definitely freak out at rats and I know I will scream. Heights won’t be an issue though! I am obviously used to diving off 10-metre boards.”

  • Naughty Boy turned down I’m A Celeb last year

Producer Naughty Boy turned down I’m A Celebrity last year to help care for his mum.

The chart-topper, 36, lives with dementia sufferer Zahida and her carer but he could not bear to leave them during the 2020 lockdowns.

He admitted: “I was gutted I wasn’t able to do the show last year.

“We were in and out of lockdown and, with so much anxiety, it just didn’t feel like the right time.

“I had to understand dementia in a different way.”

  • Confidence this year’s show will be ‘more loved than ever’

A castle source previously told The Sun: “It’s been really challenging for everyone involved just to get the show on air this year, but it’s given producers a chance to reflect and take stock more than usual.

“They’ve loved trying new things with a different location and the idea of having alternate years has been discussed.

“It means that next year Ant and Dec would be back in the traditional jungle, before returning to Wales again the following year.

“It depends a lot on how viewers like this coming series, but everyone is confident it’ll be more loved than ever given its new twists.”

  • Will the show return to Australia in 2022?

This is still yet to be decided, but it hasn’t been ruled out.

The Sun exclusively revealed that I’m A Celebrity big wigs are considering hosting alternate years between the Australian jungle and the Welsh castle.

They think it’s a good way to keep the show, hosted by Ant and Dec fresh and interesting.

  • So, when’s I’m A Celebrity on TV?

Fans, there’s not long left… so make sure you’ve topped up the drinks cabinet and the snacks.

The show kicks off on Sunday (November 21, 2021) at 9pm on ITV.

It will then continue every day at the same time.

You can also watch episodes that have already aired on the ITV Hub.

  • The most DANGEROUS trial

With the trials containing killer snakes, contaminated animal ‘danglies’ and fatal falls… do the contestants really know the real risks that lie ahead?

Life insurance experts at I’m Insured have analysed the trials from last year’s Gwrych Castle and previous seasons to reveal which challenges pose the biggest risk to this year’s celebs.

Former Saturdays singer, Frankie Bridge is currently the favourite to win, closely followed by Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson.

    BetVictor‘s Odds for I’m a Celebrity 2021:

    • Frankie Bridge 4/1
    • Simon Gregson 9/2
    • Danny Miller 9/2

    • Richard Madeley 7/1
    • Adam Woodyatt 12/1

    • Kadeena Cox 20/1
    • Snoochie Shy 20/1

  • Weather’s going to be brutal

TV survival guru Bear Grylls previously told The Sun that the celebs in camp could face adverse weather conditions including heavy rain, strong winds and even snow.

He said: “The bad weather in Wales will be brutal. Contestants should not underestimate it. You get persistent wind and rain and that makes people cold fast.”

  • Top security

I’M A Celebrity bosses have hired top-level security guards who work around the clock to stop intruders.

Locals say they’ve already spotted guards in uniform and night goggles patrolling the castle walls and surrounding woodland.

Mayor Alan Hunter, 63, said: ‘There is a lot of security at the castle.

“And these are not your normal security that you find at your supermarket.

“These are serious people. But they are just a deterrent as people are curious.”

Dog walker Richard Hughes, 27, said: ‘I went walking near the castle and it was sealed off with fences.””There is security. The rumour is that some of them are ex-SAS. I have heard they have night vision goggles for the woods,” they added to MailOnline.

  • The I’m A Celebrity lineup

The stars will enter the camp on Sunday, and they are:

    • Louise Minchin
    • Matty Lee
    • Snoochie Shy
    • Richard Madeley
    • Frankie Bridge
    • Dame Arlene Phillips, DBE
    • Naughty Boy
    • Danny Miller
    • Kadeena Cox, MBE
    • David Ginola
    • DJ Locksmith – in isolation and will be a stand by celebrity should one of the other stars drop out prematurely
  • No offence taken

Ant and Dec have gone to the same lengths as last year in consulting Welsh language advisers to make sure their jokes on I’m A Celebrity don’t offend the locals.

Garffild Lloyd Lewis praised the presenters’ pronunciation of the language in an interview with Wales Online.

He said: “Working alongside an English TV production has been amazing – they are really keen to learn about our culture, but more specifically our sense of humour.

“We made it clear from the beginning that we would avoid all stereotypical humour of Wales and they completely respect that. Ant and Dec would often check with us in regards to their use of humour before making the jokes.”

  • Explained: The prize for winning I’m A Celeb

ITV don’t pay out prize money for the winner of I’m A Celeb.

Instead they agree a fee to be paid to each of the celebs before they enter the jungle – or castle.

However, popular contestants have gone on to make much more money after the show has ended.

  • Last year’s trials ‘too easy’

Last year viewers slammed the action, claiming the trials were too easy.

Speaking from Gwyrch Castle, Executive Producer Olly Nash said: “We did set out at the beginning to make it much tougher. They are in for longer, the trials are bigger. The trials were limited last year and this time they are much closer to the Australian series in terms of scale.

“Absolutely they are harder and bigger and there are more trials over the series than ever before and more triallists taking part. That was the learnings of having one series here.

“We have 24 trials this year, I think normally it is closer to 20 in a full series, it is the most ever and absolutely the most celebrities taking part.”

  • Get used to the cold

I’m A Celebrity’s Creative Director Tom Gould said: “It’s going to be incredibly exposed and cold.

“The group dynamic in The Clink will be interesting because there is nowhere to get any space.”

  • First look inside I’m A Celebrity castle

For this year’s I’m A Celeb, a horrifying medieval jail will house some of the stars.

Campmates who lose the entry challenge will be slung into The Clink – an outdoor yard at Gwrych Castle imprisoned by a huge wall topped with spikes.

And they will be forced to sleep on the floor of a stable in sleeping bags.

  • Recap: I’m A Celeb’s first winner

In 2002, Radio DJ Tony Blackburn won the first series of I’m a Celebrity.

He defeated the late socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and author Christine Hamilton to pick up the gong of King of the Jungle.

A firm favourite from the start, Tony and Tara both managed to remain safe from the public vote throughout their two week stay.

He took part in three trials during his time in the jungle – the Sneaky Snake Run (winning 2/6 stars), the spider web (winning 3/4) and the final trial with Tara, which he completed successfully.

  • Explained: Where the campmates go once voted out

Once voted off the show it is a regular occurrence to see the stars whisked off to a luxurious hotel where they can relax.

The hotel that they will be heading to this year is the Carden Park Hotel, a luxury country hotel near Chester, Cheshire.

Just over an hours drive away from the castle, campmates will find themselves encapsulated within a 1,000 acre retreat, home to a spa, golf course and even a vineyard.

The luxury hotel offers a £12million spa facility, which features a lavish outdoor champagne bar.

  • Snoochie Shy to strip down to bikini despite freezing temperatures

Snoochie Shy said she plans to wear bikinis in the I’m A Celebrity shower.

The Radio 1 Xtra DJ, 29, said: “I’ve packed a bit of both [costumes and bikinis] to be honest.

“But I feel like if I’ve got a bikini then I’ll be able to clean more areas.

“Like I’ll be able to get to my actual belly button, ‘cos I don’t want any fluff in my belly button.”
