Is Cyprus on the green list for summer holidays?

Cyprus remains on the UK’s amber list.

This means Brits will need the following when returning to the UK:

  • A negative test taken pre-arrival
  • A mandatory ten-day quarantine at home
  • Two Covid tests, taken on day two and day eight

However, while travelling to amber list destinations is not banned, the UK government warn against it.

Boris Johnson previously said: “It is not somewhere you should be going on holiday, let me be very clear about that.”

Cyprus reported just 58 new cases yesterday, and have given 44 per cent of the population their first vaccine dose – the UK is at 58 per cent.

What are the travel restrictions in Cyprus?

Cyprus was one of the first countries in Europe to open to Brits who are fully vaccinated, or can show a negative Covid test, having welcomed UK tourists last month.

Anyone currently in Cyprus must have a Coronapass, also known as a Safe Pass, to be able to visit cafes, bars and restaurants which have reopened.

Deputy Tourism Minister Savvas Perdios told the Cyprus Mail: “As long as you have a Cyprus flight pass you can move within the destination in areas where the Coronapass is required.”

If the UK’s situation improves, the country could be added to Cyprus’ own green list which will remove the need for a negative Covid test to enter.

Mr Perdios also said there was “no chance” of Cyprus banning UK travellers, unlike Germany and France who have stopped Brits due to the Indian variant.

From June 10, the curfew will be scrapped, restaurants will be able to open indoors and nightclubs will reopen.

Portugal has also been added to the amber list, despite only being included on the green list weeks ago.
