JOEY Essex’s Towie co-stars James Argent and Chloe Sims were left in tears at his moving documentary about is mum’s suicide.

The reality star, 30, bravely opened up about his devastating loss in his BBC documentary Joey Essex: Grief and Me last night.

The documentary details Joey’s journey after his mum Tina, who suffered from depression, died by suicide when he was just 10-years-old.

His co-stars Chloe Sims and James Argent both offered their support after watching the emotional documentary.

His cousin Chloe wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Very emotional after tonight show , @joeyessex I love you & im forever proud of you. I hope your bravery helps others & you find inner peace. [sic.]

“RIP TINA The most beautiful classy compassionate kind & loving woman I knew. Hearing your voice briefly tonight for the first time broke my heart.


EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

James ‘Arg’ Argent shared a photo of him and Joey sitting on a chair together.

He wrote: “I am so proud of you @joeyessex & I know your mum would have been too.

“You’ve been through a lot of pain and suffered with anxiety & depression but your doing something about it & been so brave. I’m so pleased your getting the help you need, You’ve been an amazing friend to me & I’ll always be there for you! ❤

During the documentary, Joey choked up as he relived the devastating moment his dad told him “mummy’s gone”.

Joey said: “After what happened, my life was torn to pieces. My anxiety was through the roof, my depression.

“I used to go to hospital all the time thinking something was wrong with me. I don’t know why, I couldn’t explain it.

“It was anger I suppose. You ask yourself, ‘why, why, why’.”

Fans were moved to tears by Joey’s frank conversation as he admits “nothing makes him happy”.

One said: “Want to give Joey Essex the biggest hug right now. There really is no pain bigger than losing your mum xx.”

Another added: “What a man strong man you are. She is always with you.”

A viewer said: “The first show I’ve watched in ages without picking up my phone. Cried my eyes out. So brave, heart warming and poignant.”

Someone else said: “This is a hard watch #griefandme – I’ve lost 2 people I loved very much to suicide. The pain it leaves behind.”

The tragedy has left deep-rooted scars, as Joey admits the grief is killing his dream of starting a family and finding true love.
