Liam Payne was reportedly given a ‘tough warning’ to curb his hard partying lifestyle.
Liam wants to be around for three-year-old son Bear and is said to be ‘in a good place’ after changing his ways.
A source told The Sun: ‘Liam was taking things a bit far with partying. He was given warnings, heeded them and is now in a good place.
‘The most worrying thing for him was he was told to consider whether he’d be around for Bear if he carried on the way he was going.
‘It was a tough warning, probably exaggerated, but it jolted him into action as he’s a devoted dad.’
Liam, 27, welcomed Bear with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole in 2017, a year before the couple split.
In the past the Strip That Down singer has admitted to being drunk while on stage with 1D, who found fame on The X Factor in 2010.
He told Australian Men’s Health in 2019 that he was ‘p****d a lot of the time’ to cope with the boy band’s touring schedule and fame.
‘When you’re doing hundreds and hundreds of [concerts] and it’s the same 22 songs at the same time every single day, even if you’re not happy, you’ve got to go out there,’ he said.
‘It’s almost like putting the Disney costume on before you step up on stage and underneath the Disney costume I was pissed quite a lot of the time because there was no other way to get your head around what was going on.’
