Love Island star Danny Williams has confirmed that he didn’t actually break his ankle when donning a pair of heels and channelling his inner Beyoncé, all in the name of TikTok.

In July, news spread like wildfire that Danny had done some serious damage to his ankle after falling over his feet while mid-strut.

He had been filming a funny video for TikTok alongside his Love Island pals Christopher Taylor and Jordan Hames, with Chris then joking that Danny had sustained a serious injury after his fall.

It led to a whole host of concerned fans and even Danny’s modelling agency calling the star to check in on him, with Danny now admitting that the whole thing had been a total hoax.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, he said the whole fake ankle break had been ‘the biggest, most accidental prank ever’.

Explaining what really went down, he told us: ‘I can confirm that I did not break my ankle, I just fell over. It wasn’t a set up, I did just fall over walking in heels.

‘There was a bit of speculation just because everyone went on the comments saying I was “out for the season” and I’d “torn my ACL”, all these kind of jokes. I thought it was obvious we were completely joking, then I fell asleep on the sofa the same day and Chris took a picture of me.’

In the snap, Danny is out cold on the sofa and Chris had joked across it: ‘Sleeping off the broken ankle,’ which only added more fuel to the fire.

‘From what started off as a joke, it ended up in all the newspapers as, “Danny’s been rushed to hospital, he’s broken his ankle,”‘ Danny revealed. ‘I had my modelling agency calling me asking if I could still do my shoot… all the boys were in stitches laughing while I was on the phone.’

He said: ‘You know when you get the news on the Snapchat app, there was a bobbly head emoji of me crying and the headline was, “Danny Williams rushed to hospital in freak TikTok accident,” it was the biggest, most accidental prank ever.’

But, that hasn’t put him off getting involved with Chris’ funny TikToks and he even donned those heels once more to perform a dance to Beyoncé track Crazy In Love in the middle of Loughton high street.

We’re not kidding.

And much to Chris’ delight that is, as he referenced that faux broken ankle while captioning his video: ‘After complete reconstructive ankle surgery, months of physiotherapy & a few tears (mine, not Danny’s) Danny looked at me one morning and said…

‘Chris…let’s try again, but this time; we dance (said with jazz hands 👐 ). I looked at him, he looked back at me…then I looked back at him a bit more, before it got quite awkward so we stopped looking at each other. Whilst staring in different directions we both nodded, and got to work on the routine 💁‍♀️.

’87 hours of practice later… it still took over 100 attempts on Loughton high street. Either way, I’m very proud of @itsdannywilliams for his courage and dancing ability (cos I was shite and fluffed more times than I care to admit).’

Chris somehow manages to persuade all the boys – Danny, Jordan and Michael Griffiths, who he now lives with in Essex – to get involved with his TikToks, with Danny revealing that, usually, they’re pretty game to help him out.

Choosing not to take himself too seriously after his time in the Love Island villa in 2019, Danny said: ‘Going on Love Island last year, the first five/six months post Love Island you see the memes that have been created and the power of the internet – and how humiliating it can be at times.

‘I literally don’t care what people think of me at all, nothing really bothers me about walking in heels and it going viral on TikTok.’

In fact, he says it’s a ‘pleasure’ to entertain people during a global pandemic.

‘I think in lockdown people need it, they need a bit of a laugh,’ he claimed. ‘If anything is actually quite a pleasure to get these messages saying it cheered people up.’

Pranking has become something of a regular fix in the Love Island boys’ household and fans are now getting a front row seat to all their goings-on, as Danny, Michael, Chris and Jordan have filmed a new digital series for MTV titled Living The Dream.

Chris, Jordan and Michael had been living together in London and the show follows their big move to Essex, with Danny joining them as an extra housemate.

And, of course, being the new boy, Danny is subjected to more than a few pranks – including one that sees his pals completely cover his car in tin foil.

‘In all honesty, the first few weeks of me moving in that house I was on edge,’ he confessed.

‘At their old apartment, when I came to stay with them, I knew it was pranks 24/7. I knew what I was signing myself up to, but I was a little bit nervous. There were a few at the start just because I’m the new guy in the house, so it’s a standard initiation. It’s all fun and games.’

The series will see how the boys have been getting on in their new bachelor pad, with all footage filmed by Danny, Michael, Jordan and Chris themselves.

Speaking of the experience, Danny told us: ‘I think it was a bit difficult because it was something none of us had done before, filming the show ourselves rather than being filmed.

‘At times it was hard to differentiate between work life and home life, but I think that also helped to make it seem more seamless and more natural and organic… it was just us at home chilling.’

He teased that there is also the potential for a few familiar faces to crop up too, including Maura Higgins and Lucie Donlan who the boys have stayed ‘good friends’ with since their days in the villa.
