Man in his 20s stabbed to death in Brixton as suspect arrested just hours after woman, 19, slashed on high street

A MAN in his 20s was stabbed to death in Brixton tonight just hours after a teenage woman was slashed on a high street.

A suspect has been arrested after the fatal attack in South London.

Cops said they were called at 8.18pm to reports of an assault close to the Brixton Tube station.

Officers were scrambled to the scene and found a man, believed to be aged in his early 20s, suffering from a stab injury. They provided first aid.

The London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance also attended but despite their efforts the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.45pm.

His family has been informed and are being supported by officers. Formal identification has not taken place.

A man was arrested nearby on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Police said a crime scene remains in place and enquiries continue.

Meanwhile just hours earlier in Bexley, the Met Police said they rushed to the scene on the high street to find a 19-year-old girl slashed.

Photographs show officers flooding to the street as an investigation is launched.

Met Police said they had been called to the scene by ambulance crews on Wednesday afternoon.

They said: “Officers attended the scene and found a 19-year-old woman with slash wounds.

“At this stage, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
