Michael Ball cracks viewers up with accidental NSFW confession on The One Show

Michael Ball had The One Show viewers in stitches on Thursday night after accidentally making a very crude statement live on the show.

He and Alex Jones were joined by author John Grisham who shared his tips for aspiring writers hoping to follow in his footsteps.

John told Michael and Alex the secret to writing a great book, explaining: ‘Well I didn’t invent the formula for suspense.

‘It’s very simple – you take a likeable hero or heroine in the lead role and you get them in some danger and you get them out.’

Alex commented: ‘You make it sound so simple’, and Michael made the fateful error of adding: ‘I’ll knock one out tonight!’

While he meant it in the purest and non-crude manner, it appears that many viewers of The One Show have filthy minds as they cracked up at his unintentional ‘confession’.

They took to Twitter to share their amusement, writing: ‘@mrmichaelball as a nation we really are a bunch of potty mouths, and I love it.’

Others added: ‘The Ball is apparently knocking one out tonight’, ‘Did Michael Ball really say that?’ and ‘@MissAlexjones bet you never thought you’d hear @mrmichaelball say that on live tv?!’

Some joked: ‘Michael Ball just said ‘I’ll knock one out tonight’ on #TheOneShow – we don’t need this info Michael’ and ‘I did not need to hear Michael ball saying he is going to “knock one out later tonight” Just pure filth from #Theoneshow.’

While the accidental faux pas stole the segment, actor Matthew McConaughey had also sent over a video message to thank John for giving him one of his breakout roles in A Time To Kill in 1996.

He revealed that John and his wife Renee approved his casting and helped him to get to where he is today.

The One Show airs weekdays 7pm on BBC One and is available to catch up on BBC iPlayer.

Police officer sent explicit messages to colleague posing as girl, 12

Bryn Majid has been jailed for 20-months (Picture: Cheshire Police) A police officer who sent explicit photos to what he thought was a 12-year-old girl has been jailed after it turned out to be a colleague working undercover. Bryn Majid, 59, began chatting with ‘Jess’ in February this year on messenger app Kik, where he used the name ‘Copper762’. The custody investigation officer gradually turned the conversations towards sex, saying he would ‘show her how to kiss’, explaining how to perform a sex act and telling her he would send ‘a Kik pic of what I’m eventually going to put in you’. Majid, from Cheshire, admitted attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child and three counts of downloading images at Liverpool Crown Court and was jailed for 20 months. The court heard Majid messaged the supposed schoolgirl to say she was ‘looking lovely’ and mentioned that he was ‘slightly older’ than her but would still like to meet one day – something he said would be ‘their little secret..
