Phillip Schofield’s Five Gold Rings ‘axed after Covid concerns’

PHILLIP Schofield’s Five Gold Rings show has been axed amid Covid concerns, it’s been reported.

The ITV gameshow, which sees contestants place rings on certain spots of a circular LED screen on the floor, has had four series to date.

But with Covid still rife in the UK, channel bosses have decided to drop it.

A source told the Daily Star: “It won’t be back on TV this autumn like it normally would and there are currently no plans to bring it back in the future.

“This show has been a fantastic success for ITV, but the current climate has made things very tough indeed.

“TV production is extremely difficult while the virus is still around. That means some shows have to be dropped.”

TV host Phil still has his other primetime gameshow The Cube as well as his daily slot on This Morning and Dancing On Ice when it returns in the New Year.

He and co-host Holly Willoughby are currently off air for the summer holidays.

Earlier this month Phil reunited with wife Stephanie to celebrate daughter Molly’s 28th birthday.

He ended his relationship with his wife last year after he came out as gay, but they are still great friends.

And it was smiles all round as the former couple and their children Molly and Ruby posed for a selfie at the Griffith Observatory in LA.

Phillip wrote: “Amazing long weekend celebrating @mollyschofe’s birthday. Hope you had a wonderful time gorgeous.”
