Viewers of The Million Pound Cube have been left feeling pretty stressed after the sound disrupted a crucial moment of the game show.

The ITV series has returned for its first episode after a five-year absence, with many new changes to the format, such as contestants having nine lives to compete seven different games, each worth an increasing amount of money, as they move closer to the jackpot.

Comedian Mo Gilligan and actor David Ajao competed together on tonight’s edition, and were onto the third round, aiming to win £10,000.

For this round, the two had to play together and swap nine blocks by passing them to each other through holes in a wall, and place them onto their podiums within the allotted time.

Mo and David had already lost several lives during this minigame, so the tension was pretty high as the pair gave it all, with their eyes on the prize.

With two lives left, Mo and David attempted again, but then the show began experiencing sound issues.

Fans at home were left feeling annoyed that this happened, especially during a climatic point of the episode, with many unable to hear what was going on.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: ‘Did the beep to start the last game screw up your volume?’

While another weighed in: ‘Ummm, what happened to the sound.’

‘Anyone else’s sound gone dodgy on @ITV???’ another viewer questioned.

Thankfully, the sound came back on just as the minigame ended, although it did leave some viewers a bit confused over what had just happened.

A continuity announcer for ITV later apologised for the technical issues that some may have experienced while watching the show during the episode’s end credits.

Luckily for Mo and David, they were able to complete the game with two lives left, but they then chose to end their time on the show, after they felt they would not be able to complete the next round.

The duo walked away with £10,000 which they have chosen to donate to 100 Black Men and Albrighton Community Centre.

Jason Manford and his brother Steven also took part in tonight’s edition of the series, but also decided to give up after securing £100,000. They will be giving the money they won away to their chosen charities of The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust and The Theatre Artist Fund.

The Million Pound Cube continues next Saturday at 9pm on ITV.
