The staycation holiday scene is booming, with new areas and tourist hotspots being discovered every month.

If you’re looking for a seaside getaway trip teeming with one of the most stunning beaches in the country, Castlemartin might just be the place to go.

Freshwater West Beach is a five hour drive from London, but you’ll be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views.

What’s more, it has been used in numerous blockbuster films including the final two films of the Harry Potter film franchise.

Potter fans will recognise this beach as it was used to film Dobby’s final moments and later show Harry Potter paying his respects at Dobby’s grave.

An ‘unofficial’ gravestone to the famous fictional character has since been formed on the beach, attracting fans from all over the world.

Many fans have left thousands of messages for Dobby, who died at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange after rescuing Harry and his friends from Malfoy Manor.

The beach was also used in the battle scene in Robin Hood (2010) which stars Russell Crowe and is directed by Ridley Scott.

But, the beach isn’t the only tourist attraction on offer in this area.

Visitors can explore the stunning cliff tops and look out for the sea stacks at Stack Rocks, and the rock arch at The Green Bridge of Wales.

To top off your perfect day, don’t hesitate to visit one of the area’s most fantastic culinary experiences.

At Freshwater Beach, head to Cafe Mor which has been awarded a TripAdvisor Travellers Award for its sumptuous seafood.

Dishes range from bacon butties, crab rolls, lobster rolls and even offer seaweed ketchup as a condiment!

One guest wrote: “All the excellent reviews are true. Lobster and crab rolls – with Welsh black butter, homemade coleslaw, seaweed ketchup and a dash of magic. One of the most delicious things we’ve ever eaten. Do not miss this.”

A second 5* review said: “Simply the best bacon bap I have ever eaten. The seaweed ketchup is delicious – a treat not to be missed.”

A third person simply said “Best Beach food in the world”, and another customer said “Honestly the best lobster roll I could imagine! Huge chunks of lobster with the incredibly decadent sauces. My partner ordered the seaweed and bean burger (vegan) and he loved it.”

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Castlemartin sets the bar high with one of the best beach experiences the UK has to offer.
