The Santa Clause star Tim Allen has officially signalled the beginning of Christmas as he starts his transition into ‘you know who’.

The actor, who starred in the 1994 festive flick, is clearly just as excited about the holiday as ever.

Sharing a snap of his impressive beard on Twitter, he wrote: ‘Woke up this morning and noticed a bit more stubble.

‘This always happens to me as I transition to you no who this Christmas [sic].’

It’s uncanny, Tim!

The classic festive movie follows a divorced father (Tim) who has custody of his son (Eric Lloyd) on Christmas Day.

After he accidentally causes a man in a Santa suit to fall from a roof, they are transported to the North Pole where an elf explains he needs to take his place before next Christmas – hence the transformation.

It was a hit with viewers and had two sequels – The Santa Clause 2 in 2002 and The Santa Clause 3: Escape Clause in 2006.

The plot might sound a little dark to the uninitiated, but the 67-year-old previously revealed it started out a whole lot darker.

In fact, in the original script, Tim was supposed to shoot Santa dead.

‘The original Santa Clause is a little darker, written by two comedians, and I actually shot and killed Santa, in the original movies,’ Tim revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

‘He fell off the roof because I thought he was a burglar [in the actual film]. He gives me the card, the whole movie starts.

‘[In the original script,] the kid actually starts with, “You just killed Santa.” And I said, “He shouldn’t have been on the roof when he wasn’t invited.”‘

And while Tim thought the movie’s original gruesome storyline was hilarious, Disney bosses weren’t so convinced.

‘I’m laughing so hard, but the head of Disney at the time, [Jeffrey] Katzenberg said, “Well you can’t start a movie like that.”

‘And I said, “Why not?” He said, “We can’t start a Disney movie with you murdering Santa!”‘

Well, when you put it like that…
