Following the success of the first series of The Vow, the gripping documentary exposing the story of the NXIVM cult has been renewed for season two.

Airing on HBO, the true crime docu-series shed light on the organisation launched by Keith Raniere in 1998, which in recent years involved Smallville star Allison Mack.

And it will return to screens in 2021 set against the backdrop of the federal trial of the United States against Raniere and will offer a further view into his inner circle.

The series will delve into the stories of NXIVM’s top leadership in the US and Mexico, and into powerful, intimate stories of DOS members.

According to Deadline, Season 2 follows the legal and emotional journeys of the group’s founders, supporters and defectors as new evidence and stunning revelations come to light while federal prosecutors and defense attorneys battle for opposing views of justice in a case caught in the national spotlight.

On the surface, NXIVM offered self improvement opportunities and seminars for its members.

However, it has since been revealed it was recruiting for a secret sex cult subsect, DOS.

Both Raniere and Mack are now in prison after a host of other former members finally spoke out about what was going on behind closed doors of the cult in 2018.

Raniere – who as leader of the cult, insisted followers call him Vanguard – is to be sentenced on October 27, 2020 after being found guilty in 2019 for a series of serious, sexually related, crimes.

These include sexual exploitation of a child, sex trafficking, racketeering, identity theft and possession of child pornography.

Mack plead guilty to her involvement and was charged with a series of racketeering offences.

The Vow launched in August on HBO in the US.
