Strictly Come Dancing 2020 is underway, with the pairings for this year’s series revealed during its launch show on Saturday night.

This year’s show is looking very different in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic – from its socially distanced studio audience sitting at tables through to the absence of Bruno Tonioli from the judging panel due to travel restrictions.

That doesn’t mean the show isn’t going to give us a whole lot of joy and sparkle though – while it’s also breaking new ground in having its first ever same-sex couple this year, as boxer Nicola Adams was partnered off with Katya Jones.

Normally there’s a few weeks between the launch show and the first live show to give the couples time to train – but will that be the case this year, and when can we expect to see the first live instalment?

When is the first Strictly Come Dancing 2020 live show?

The good news is that you won’t have to wait too long for more dancing, as Strictly Come Dancing’s first live show is next Saturday, October 24.

This year, the series is shorter than usual due to the pandemic, with 12 celebrities taking part across a nine-week run.

Next Saturday’s show kicks off on BBC One at 7.25pm as all 12 of the newly-formed couples make their dancefloor debut.

You’d better be ready for a long evening of dancing, as the show runs for an hour and 50 minutes ahead of The Wall at 9.15pm.

If you miss any instalments of Strictly 2020, you’ll be able to catch up with them via the BBC iPlayer.
